I'd like to start out by stating that this information is only my opinion which is based on the information I have read about natural health in addition to more than a decade of eating and living the way I have daily. Couple that with my blood work results every 6 months which indicates no deficiencies, I believe that this information is very valuable and of course valid. Maybe it just works for me, my body type and genetics, I can't say for sure. However, just like smoking tobacco will affect each one of us with varying degrees of health negatives, eating green smoothies, I believe, will probably have an affect on each one of us with varying degrees of health positives. Try it for yourself, after you speak with your natural, or other, health practitioner first of course. The body is equipped to heal itself correct? Why is it that so many people are becoming and staying sick? Perhaps that statement is wrong and the body can't heal itself naturally? No! The trouble is that people a) do not supply the body with the correct amount of raw materials, usually in terms of food intake, it requires to heal itself and b) we bombard it with junk that hinders the performance of the limited number of resources that we actually do supply it. I'm a big admirer of the raw food diet. To suggest that heating foods over and above a certain temperature destroying much needed enzymes that are significant to assimilation makes sense to me. Further, it is advised that to get the most from our foods that we must chew it until it's gone. Our body has troubles digesting big chunks of food. Also, I strongly believe that we can survive and thrive with a a diet of largely fruits and dark green leafy vegetables, with of course some healthy fats. In regards to healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I consume. The main foods I have each an every day are composed of lots of raw fruits and greens in the form of green smoothies. Being in a liquid form, my body has no issues assimilating the nutrients. A giant hurdle for most people when changing the way they eat, and a huge one for me is addressing unhealthy cravings. Like a person that has addiction to alcohol or drugs must go through a detox in an effort to heal, we essentially must to do a similar thing. Our cells are made up of stuff from the food that we have ingested in the past. The body generally craves more of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the contents of the individual sick cells in our bodies. With a drug detox, many times, dry sauna therapy is used to sweat out the drugs. This could help eliminate the physical cravings which could allow the person a better chance of remaining sober. For us, adjusting our eating habits may possibly enhance the elimination of toxic foods as well which can be conveniently removed in our poop, sweat and perhaps urine. But, we may still crave those foods while some of the contaminants in our cells are still present. I have found that instantly after having the first drink of my green smoothie the cravings for greasy foods, meat, sweets, salt, etc started to dwindle. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings were gone completely and I would be fulfilled. The problem then was that the cravings would come back as I became hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another smoothie ready and waiting before the cravings would come back, or not too long after they started. The unhealthy cravings in due course subsided for good as I cleaned out my system. Then I began to crave greens instead!
